Project Rainshine - activity report

PROJECT RAINSHINE

Project Rainshine is a collaboration between the ICHARS Support Foundation and the Healing Dove Foundation, that focuses on training and mentoring various staff members at NGOs with skills to provide emotional and mental health first aid to their beneficiaries and connect them to mental health practitioners, trained by ICHARS, to offer advanced mental health support where required.

ACTIVITY REPORT OF PROJECT RAINSHINE’S TRIDENT

TRAINING PROGRAMS

The idea is to train staff, permanent members and volunteers working with our partner NGOs, with the motive of equipping them with the necessary skills that they required to conduct counselling and therapy sessions for their beneficiaries. Recently, we worked with Sense International India and Lotus Petal Foundation.

SUPPORT GROUPS

Our support groups are known to make available a safe space for them to feel heard, understood, and empowered. Recently, we worked with Siddarth Memorial Charitable Trust, Ashraya Initiative for Children and Snehasadan, conducting support groups with their in-house staff and beneficiaries with overly optimistic results.

ONE-ON-ONE SESSIONS

Wherever deeper intervention is required from psychology professionals , one-on-one sessions are provided either virtually or physically depending on the current COVID-19 situation.

This workshop helped beneficiaries to:

Develop rapport, establish a therapeutic alliance and helped the end beneficiaries define their concerns quickly and effectively Questions to help them identify triggers causing anxiety, stress, anger, panic attack and much more… To help clients understand and manage different emotions like Anxiety, helplessness, Anger, Guilt… Work in different contexts arising out of the pandemic eg. work from home, kids, loss of a job, loved ones etc.

PROJECT RAINSHINE AT SIDDARTH MEMORIAL CHARITABLE TRUST

As part of Project Rainshine, we conducted a 3 Day support group program for the in-house staff members and children, aged 12-18, at the Siddarth Memorial Charitable Trust,beginning on 20th May, 2021. Their primary challenges were grief due to loss of parents and other family members, loss ofincome of parents, the children’s lived reality of relying on charity and donated rations, anxiety and coping with other stressors of COVID-19.

Techniques and activities demonstrated during the sessions:

  • Progressive Relaxation
  • Release Metaphor
  • Emotional Empowered Technique

No of beneficiaries – 50 (online live sessions)

PROJECT RAINSHINE AT SNEHASADAN

As part of Project Rainshine, we conducted a support group session for the caretakers and in-house staff members at Snehasadan, on 24th May, 2021. This group of adults’ basic expectations was to understand the anxiety and stress and how these emotions are exhibited in their day-to-day behavior. They wanted to assimilate precautions and processes that could help them keep stress levels low. The challenges they faced were dealing with anxiety and coping with stress caused due to the ongoing pandemic.

PROJECT RAINSHINE AT ASHRAYA INITIATIVE FOR CHILDREN

PROJECT RAINSHINE AT ASHRAYA INITIATIVE FOR CHILDREN

As part of Project Rainshine, we conducted a support group program for 4 children at the Ashraya Initiative for Children, on 12th July 2021. The focus of the session was on Anger Management and thus, the aims were defining anger, explaining the importance of anger management and providing the children with coping strategies. Their experiences with anger involved instances when they had been teased, abused, ignored by teachers or friends, interrupted during online lessons, forced to do something they didn’t wish to.

Project MEHAK

PROJECT MEHAK

Project MEHAK (Mental and Emotional Health Awareness Through Knowledge) is a collaboration between the ICHARS Support Foundation and the Healing Dove Foundation, that focuses on breaking misconceptions, stigma, stereotypes, misinformation and prejudice associated with marginalized communities through live sessions, knowledge series and talk-it-out groups. We aim to equip all in dealing with issues faced in every day life.

PROJECT MEHAK’S TRIDENT

LIVE SESSIONS

We conduct live sessions with beneficiaries with emphasis on struggles faced in regards to their identities, how it affects their emotions and mental health and understand the ways in which they deal with their personal sessions.

TALK-IT-OUT GROUPS

Talk-It-Out groups are those wherein individuals share their experiences and emotions in a non-judgmental setting. These groups make available a safe space for them to feel heard, understood, and empowered. The talk-it-out groups also help in resolving the personal issues of the participants with guidance and support.

KNOWLEDGE SERIES

The knowledge series of awareness campaigns with the help of self- help videos & posts on social media handles and blogs & research articles on websites to promote emotional health awareness along with practical approaches for emotional self-care.

Project YES

PROJECT YES

Project YES (Youth for Emotional Support) is a collaboration between the ICHARS Support Foundation and the Healing Dove Foundation, that, via online training programs, focuses on helping youth develop skills that enable them to manage their mental and emotional state effectively, and provide emotional first aid to their friends and family. We strive to create a chain of trained individuals who can foster emotional wellbeing for everyone in the times of emotional turmoil.

PROJECT YES’ EMOTIONAL SKILLS TRAINING

  • Project YES would provide them with techniques and coping mechanisms to help build their ‘Mental and Emotional Healthcare for Self: First Aid Kit.’
  • There would be a specialized, structured training program to help youth develop advanced practical skills for understanding and expressing their emotions constructively and managing their thoughts and emotions effectively.

PROJECT YES’ DUAL-PRONGED FORK

Project YES aims to conduct two kinds of workshops to help the participants build their ‘Mental and Emotional Healthcare for Self: First Aid Kit.’

SELF-HYPNOSIS

In the Self-Hypnosis workshops, the participants will learn to bypass their conscious mind and introduce their desired thoughts and emotions into their unconscious mind.

No matter where your relationship is, this Workshop can help you make it richer, more loving and more rewarding. Relationships are key to the human experience, as we are by nature social animals. Simply put, we are not in this alone and we must work towards making our relationships happier and healthier.
