Below are the activity report which is organized by ICHARS Support Foundation under VISIT MHP initiative.
Talk it out session:
Today, though the awareness of the importance of mental health is on the rising, there is still a stigma attached to it. It is important to let people know that they aren’t alone and it is common for everyone to go through mental concerns. Even if a person wishes to express what they are experiencing there are several factors that stop them from doing so. Below are a few points of many which may not allow them to prioritize their mental health or mental well-being:
- Social stigma
- Lack of trust
- Where do I start from
- Whom do I approach
- Confidentiality concerns
We at ICHARS strive to provide a platform where one can express his/her issues and concerns with like-minded people and not hold the fear of being judged. We do this by conducting online Talk it Out sessions, where one can login and talk about a specific issue which not only helps them vent but also gives an opportunity to listen to others who are experiencing a similar issue.
SUPPORT GROUP TALK IT OUT SESSION:
1. Anxiety-:
Anxiety is a feeling of fear, dread, and uneasiness. Some of the physiological symptoms are sweating, feeling restless and tense, and having a rapid heartbeat. It can be a normal reaction to stress.
Anxiety is a natural human state and we all experience it to varying intensities. It is a vital part of our lives. So much so most of the time anxiety helps us to identify and respond to danger in ‘fight or flight mode. It can motivate to us face up to dealing with difficult challenges. The ‘right’ amount of anxiety can help us perform better and stimulate action and creativity.
But there is another side to anxiety. Persistent anxiety causes real emotional distress and can lead to us becoming unwell and, at worst, developing anxiety disorders such as panic attacks, phobias, and obsessional behaviors. Anxiety at this level can have a truly distressing and debilitating impact on our lives and impact on our physical as well as our mental health.
The session was conducted by interns who were a part of the 6-month internship program of the Visit MHP initiative.
Participants: The age group of the participants was 18-30 years.
Duration : 1 hour /No. of participants: 12
Hosted by: Psychology Interns trained under Visit MHP initiative of ICHARS Support Foundation
2. Anger Management-:
Anger is an emotion characterized by active hostility or opposition towards someone or something you feel has deliberately done you wrong. However, we cannot term anger as an out-and-out negative emotion or a bad thing. Anger can sometimes be a good thing too.
It can give you a way to express negative feelings or motivate you to find solutions to problems. However, excessive anger can cause problems both physiologically and psychologically.
The session was conducted by interns who were a part of the 6-month internship program of the Visit MHP initiative. There were a total of 9 participants. The session was very enthusiastic and everyone enjoyed it as they were able to freely express their anger issues and everyone was very comfortable after the session.
Participants: The age group of the participants was 18-30 years.
Duration : 1 hour/No. of participants: 9

3. Procrastination-:
Procrastination is the act of delaying or putting off tasks until the last minute, or past their deadline. Even though putting off the tasks can have potentially negative consequences some people are characterized by the irrational delay of doing tasks.
There may be many causes for procrastination like lack of motivation, low self-confidence, fear of failure etc. People who procrastinate may have tried many ways to fight their habit of procrastination. However, they are often not aware of the fact that they can seek help to combat this challenge which is limiting them in many ways. Through these talk it out sessions, we intend to bring people fighting the same cause together and give them a platform where they can vent out.
Participants: The age group of the participants was 18-30 years.
Duration : 1 hour/No of participants: 8
Hosted by: Psychology Interns trained under Visit MHP initiative of ICHARS Support Foundation
4. Self-Acceptance-:
Self-acceptance is defined as when an individual accepts all of his/her attributes with all the positives and the negatives. But unfortunately, people are always looking at satisfying others expectations and are constantly not wanting to fall prey to judgments from society.
More often than not in such situations people tend to find it difficult to accept themselves and may lead to a lot of disturbances in their day to day functioning. Through these talk it out sessions, one finds a common ground where they can pour their hearts and be sure of not being judged.
Participants: The age group of the participants was 18-30 years.

LIVE SESSIONS:
We firmly believe that in order to promote therapy for better behavioral and emotional well-being it is extremely critical to spread awareness about mental health and mental wellbeing.
Unfortunately, there still revolves a stigma around this topic, and due to misconceptions about mental health and mental fitness, people often suffer in silence and their conditions only go from bad to worse. We at ICHARS believe that Mental health awareness is an important social movement to both improve understanding and increase access to healthcare.
To spread the word around and create awareness our interns conduct live sessions on various topics related to mental health. In the past month, there were two live sessions conducted one a general discussion on the topic of mental health and another addressing the concerns that are faced as a part of the rejection.
